Both are losing/lost large portions of their target market, but for different reasons. The 300ZX (along with many other sportscars) was killed by consumer shift to SUV's among people with income to make "status" car purchases. While I am not in the retail business anymore, I suspect the biggest reason for the 370Z's anemic numbers have a LOT more to do with a little something that was mass messaged to Americans as the economic apocalypse in 2009 and has drug on ever since, along with very real downturn in income among middle class earners, a very real downturn in credit markets. Not to be forgotten in all this is the fact that Nissan's marketing is simply pathetic. They couldnt market water in the Sahara. There are no "car people" running Nissan.....and this is why Porsche can see all-time record sales in the same American market that Nissan cant even maintain existing numbers in while they have every advantage possible.
